Hello again!
I'm sure you're wondering about who we are as pups and painters. As we mentioned in our previous post, our names are Kiki and Bruce. We are both rescues from Texas, but from different organizations. Kiki is a mix of a Black Mouth Cur, Lab, and terrier and she came from the rescue names "ARK" or Animal Rescue Kingdom. Bruce, an American Pit bull Terrier, is a recue from the Humane Society in SW Washington. We are both two years old and are pretty active when we aren't painting. We like to go on walks with our sisters and play tug-of-war with each other when we are not stealing leftovers from our humans. We are also very great listeners and love to work, but only if there are treats involved.
We started painting during the summer of 2019 and have been testing different media since. We started with oil painting, then moved to ink and graphite, then to just pen. Most of the time when we work with pen, we end up not even starting with an erasable medium. Just diving into a portrait is a really great tactic to get your creative juices flowing. We do that every time we work with graphite, but not with Sumi Ink or oil. With those, there is a certain element of uncertainty because you can't always make the medium go where you want. That's why I don't try to make everything look 100% realistic or accurate, but true to the nature of the animal or object. Maybe you should think about that the next time you start an art project, that not everything is perfect, but maybe it shouldn't be.
